As some of you already know next May I will be taking part of the Kensington Dollshouse Festival. This is the first time I am attending and I am truly happy. It is an opportunity to get to know some of you personally. Of course, there you will find many of the pieces that I have been presenting on the blog so far. Precisamente, inspirado por mi participación en la feria inglesa, he
hecho una réplica de este escritorio que diseñó en 1950 Robin Day para
la firma inglesa Hille y de las sillas apilables que creó junto a su
mujer, Lucienne. Robin y Lucienne Day fueron una pareja de diseñadores de enorme interés
para mi que crearon increibles piezas, aportando luz al periodo de
posguerra en Gran Bretaña. Trataron de dar importancia a la
funcionalidad, a la economía de materiales y de técnicas productivas.
Obteniendo piezas tan interesantes como estas, conocidas como Escritorio
Hille y sillas Hillestak.
Indeed, inspired
by my participation in the event in London, I made a replica of this desk
that Robin Day designed in 1950 for the English firm Hille and the
stackable chairs that he created with his wife, Lucienne. Robin and Lucienne Day were a couple of designers of great interest to me who created incredible
pieces, bringing light to the postwar period in Britain. They tried to give importance to the functionality, the economy of materials and productive techniques. Obtaining pieces as interesting as these, known as Hille Desk and Hillestak chairs.
Como el original, el escritorio está hecho con un marco de haya y el sobre flotante y los cajones suspendidos de nogal. Las sillas también tienen la estructura de haya y el asiento y el respaldo los he hecho curvando madera laminada de nogal.
Like the original, the desk has a beech frame and the floating desktop and suspended drawers are made in walnut. The chairs are also constructed with a steam bent plywood seat and back veneered in walnut.
